Christmas 2026

Christmas in Odiham

The High Street lights, a Christmas Extravaganza, Father Christmas on the canal and carols in the church, plus the best fayres and light trails within a short drive.

Odiham High Street, lined with old pubs and houses

What Christmas looks like here

Odiham does Christmas properly for a village. inOdiham, the volunteer group behind the Friday market, puts the Christmas lights up along the length of the High Street, and the season really starts with the Christmas Extravaganza on the last Sunday in November. After that it's carols, the Lions' Santa sleigh doing its rounds, Father Christmas on a canal boat and plenty of pub fires.

This page stays at the same address every year. We refresh the dates each autumn, and the full list of everything on (not just Christmas) is on What's on.

Make a weekend of it

  • Extravaganza weekend (28 and 29 November): Basing House or the Hook schools fair on the Saturday, the High Street on the Sunday afternoon.
  • Weekend of 12 and 13 December: Father Christmas on the canal, the All Saints' Christmas Spectacular on the Sunday, and the Winchester market if you fancy a trip out.
  • Christmas shopping: the independent shops on the High Street and in Fountains Mall, the Friday market for food, then Newlyns farm shop and the free barrel-top tastings at Caviste and The Spirits Room, which run most weekends in November and December.
  • A walk to work up an appetite: the flat canal towpath to King John's Castle is good in any weather. Galleon Marine is closed for the winter and opens again for the boating season in spring.

Pubs get busy in December, so book a table for Christmas lunches and Sunday roasts. The Waterwitch changes hands on 1 November 2026 and reopens under new owners some time in November (no date yet), so check it's open before you go.
